Four of us stopped by the Handsome Frog mid-morning today. We were greeted with smiles and seated inside as the wind was starting to rise outside.
None of us had had breakfast so we were fairly peckish. However we were spoilt for choice from the delicious menu. In the end Velda plumped for mince on bread – a reminder of her childhood in S Africa, Diane the Eggs Benedict (hollandaise was the best she’d ever had) and both Nigel and I opted for the the Brisket Pie. 3 coffees and a pot of tea completed the order.
As we tucked into our excellent meals we enjoyed the eclectic mix of music being played and the relaxed ambiance of the establishment.
We left 40 minutes later nicely filled and and wonderfully relaxed. Our only regret was we didn’t have space for any of the lovely looking cakes on display. Thoroughly recommend you seek out the Frog and give it a kiss.

An absolutely fabulous cafe, staff are always friendly and greet with a grin. The food here is freshly prepared in house with local ingredients, and tastes delicious! Their pies are quite easily the best in Whangarei, the pastry is crunchy and the fillings are delightful – an extensive range for vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters.
